Hi, my name is Hoang Thi Kim Dzung (Hoàng Thị Kim Dung). I was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. After passing as a valedictorian of the Faculty of Foreign Economic Relations (Japanese course) at Hanoi Foreign Trade University, luckily I was chosen as 1 of 6 students across Vietnam in 2012, to receive the Japanese Government’s MEXT Scholarship for 5 years of fully-funded higher education in Japan. While studying at the Faculty of Economics at Osaka University, I served as the first female president of the Vietnamese Youth Student Association in Osaka (VYSA Osaka), and also founded a startup called GStabi, got inspired and supported by the Business Innovation Class at Osaka University and local businesses in Osaka. After graduation, in 2017, I joined IBM Japan, working as a Sales Representative offering Fintech solutions to big financial institution customers in Japan. At the same time, I also participated in supporting technology startups in the BlueHub startup incubation program at IBM Japan. I joined a Japan-based Venture Capital firm named Genesia Ventures in April 2019. Then I returned to Vietnam to establish the foundation of Genesia Ventures’s first representative office in Ho Chi Minh City, in September 2019. Since then, I have led our fund investment in 8 startups (eDoctor, BuyMed (thuocsi.vn), Vietcetera, Fundiin, Selly, MVillage, Rootopia, Wareflex,...) in Vietnam.

What is it that fuels you? For me, it’s all about startups, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact. When I was working at IBM Japan, I created ZUNZUNNEWS (ずんずんニュース) which was a daily news channel for me to deliver the latest news about startups, industries disrupted innovation, and technology to my clients and team members. Zun (ずん) is my name in Japanese, and ZunZun (ずんずん)means progressing quickly and steadily, moving forward without hesitation. I love this unique meaning combination that routed from my name. Therefore, I decided to keep using this name for this blog, to share all my insights and experiences during my startup's investment activities as a Venture Capitalist at Genesia Ventures Japan, and to contribute meaningfully to the Vietnam Startup Ecosystem.

ZUNZUNSTARTUPS is truly my own little passion project, gaining more and more traction each day. I hope you enjoy browsing my site and all of the unique content I have to offer. Take a look around; perhaps you’ll discover what fuels you as well.
